Blackburn Rovers Player Ratings As Cantwell And Beck Misses Prove Costly

2 min read

Here’s how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players’ performances, with a six representing par for the course.

Aynsley Pears – 6

Some poor distribution in the first half, though he wasn’t alone. Made a smart save from Slater after his initial wayward pass.

Callum Brittain – 7

Looked likely to be involved if Rovers were to find a way through. Set-up Gueye for a good a chance and was an outlet on the right. But it was Longman, playing on his side, who was free at the back post.

Danny Batth – 7

Some lovely long diagonals into the feet of the attackers. Won plenty in the air.

Dom Hyam – 6

Guilty of giving the ball away too, uncharacteristically, in the opening 45. Defended well in the

Owen Beck – 5

Gave the ball away too often and missed a golden opportunity to score at 0-0.

Lewis Baker – 6

Was a bit slow to release the ball forward in the first half but played with more purpose after the break, much like Rovers in general.

Sondre Tronstad – 8

One of the few that played with some energy from the first whistle. Won plenty of tackles and interceptions.

Amario Cozier-Duberry – 8

The brightest of the forward line. Constantly provided a spark and had an effort cleared off the line having beaten the goalkeeper.

Todd Cantwell – 5

Simply had to score from 12 yards out. A massive chance at 0-0 which came back to haunt Rovers.

Tyrhys Dolan – 6

Was bright in the early stages with some nice touches but couldn’t get into the game.

Makhtar Gueye – 6

Had a goal-bound flick deflected from goal but otherwise, no real chances at goal.

Substitutes: Andi Weimann (Dolan, 62′) – 6

Could’ve scored late on but his shot was blocked on its way to goal.

Yuki Ohashi (Gueye, 62′) – 6

Didn’t get a real sight of goal. Didn’t really pick up the pace of the game.

John Buckley (Baker, 76′) – 6

Booked for hauling down Kamara on the break.

Harry Leonard (Cozier-Duberry, 83′) – N/A

Created the chance for Weimann but perhaps could’ve come on sooner.

Joe Rankin-Costello (Tronstad 83′) – N/A

A late change to try and add more energy.

Unused substitutes: Toth, McFadzean, Litherland, Hedges.

Referee: Dean Whitestone

Attendance: 16,245
